🧪New antibiotic today

After 30 years, a new oral antibiotic for UTIs - Blujepa (gepotidacin) has been approved by the MHRA for treating uncomplicated UTIs in women aged 12+ and weighing at least 40 kg.

🔬💊 It works by inhibiting bacterial enzymes to prevent replication, and is as effective as nitrofurantoin. Dose: two tablets twice daily for five days.

💰🌍 Cost-effectiveness to be evaluated by NICE, it has already been approved in the US, and further indications being pursued.
